Assistant Teacher

1. Professional Conduct & Interpersonal Skills

• Maintain trust with BFI and its administration
• Be positive, friendly, and supportive
• Show love and respect to all students, treating them equally
• Respect your assigned teacher
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, parents, other teachers, and administration

2. Classroom Support & Lesson Delivery

• Assist the main teacher in delivering lessons, including preparing materials and support for hands-on activities
• Preparing activities according to the main teacher’s instruction
• Decorate the classroom
• Typing work using a computer
• Prepare materials for games
• To present ‘Lesson demonstration’
• Promote engagement through singing, dancing, and interactive learning activities
• Actively engage with and support students throughout the day (snack/lunch/playtime)
• Retrieve and remediate missed lessons for absent students

3. Student Care & Assistance

• Play with students
• Assist with pupils’ daily needs (eating, swimming, changing clothes, toileting, washing hands, brushing teeth)
• Help pupils in all special activities
• Supervise pupils during indoor and outdoor play activities
• Follow home visit with the main teacher

4. Record Keeping & Documentation

• Arrange pupils’ activity files
• Document student behavior/observations
• Measure height and weight regularly

5. Health, Hygiene & Safety

• Clean up the room, centers, and cupboards
• Wash paintbrushes, palettes, and glue plates
• Sharpen pencils and color pencils
• Wash and check toothbrushes and toothpaste boxes once a week
• Observe children’s emotional development/health
• Check the toys and toy list once a month
• Order classroom supplies and inform the main teacher of needs

6. Communication & Parent Interaction

• Communicate effectively with parents as directed by the main teacher
• Distribute supervisor letters and get parent signatures

7. School Involvement & Professional Growth

• Participate in professional development opportunities and apply concepts to classroom and school activities
• Take duty as a presenter (for those with 3 years of experience) during workshop presentations
• Involve in school activities and workshops

Maintain personal growth by reading materials to improve communication, computing, and presentation skills

Basic understanding of toddler developmental milestones (physical, cognitive, emotional, social)

 Ability to support classroom routines and assist in managing young children

Strong English-speaking skills with clear pronunciation

Patience, kindness, and a caring attitude

Ability to work under the guidance of the lead teacher and as part of a team

Good communication with both children and parents

Practical Skills

 Hands-on ability to assist with feeding, toileting, and hygiene needs

Support in preparing and setting up learning/play materials

 Help in creating a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment
